Congrats to the Class of 2017!

This past weekend the newest class of Balboa Alumni was introduced into the organization! We had a great dinner and event at Bali Hai in San Diego. Dr. Michael Thompson graciously performed MC duties and was phenomenal! We had inspirational and meaningful words from Dr. Bill Krissoff as our distinguished speaker and excellent food and drink! Pictures of the graduates can be seen below (Left to Right: Darren Thomas, Chris Renninger, Grant Cochran, and Andrew Bernhardson). We wish them the best of luck moving forward!

In addition to welcoming graduates, faculty awards were presented. Each year the residents recognize one faculty member for contributions to resident clinical education and one faculty member for contributions to research activity at NMCSD.  This year the clinical education award went to Dr. Joseph Carney (below left) and the research award went to Dr. Kevin Kuhn (below right)! Congratulations to these great faculty and thanks to all faculty for their contribution to resident education!

We missed all the alumni who were unable to attend this year, but hope to see you at future events! We had a wonderful evening and we appreciate the fantastic turnout! Once again, congratulations Class of 2017! Welcome to the Balboa Alumni Family!

AAOS: Thank you and welcome back!

This past week the AAOS Annual Meeting was hosted in San Diego, CA.  From all reports, it was quite a successful meeting for everyone.  We had a great alumni reception with a fantastic turnout.  Once again, we'd like to thank Jim Maxwell and his wonderful wife for all the hard work that went into making such a successful event.

In other AAOS meeting news, members of the NMCSD PGY4 resident class came out victorious in the national resident knowledge bowl put on by the academy. Of 25 national teams, NMCSD was the top!

Finally, we'd like to welcome back everyone to the alumni website.  Over the last year or two, there's been a goal of revamping our newsletters, events, and website so that we can better engage our alumni and make sure everyone keeps up with the program.  Over the next several months, look out for more regular updates and for the planning of additional events to help engage our alumni.  If you have suggestions or questions--please do not hesitate to get in touch with us!
